We have transitioned from the era of Net Metering to that of Net Billing, which means real-time self-consumption with the sale of surplus energy.

The key difference between them is that in Net Metering, energy offsetting takes place, whereas in Net Billing, in addition to energy offsetting, there is also financial compensation, with the self-producer being remunerated for the energy injected into the grid. Continue here.
